WSET Level 2 Wine Kit 3

This final kit covers some additional Italian reds as well as fortifieds discussed in the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines. This kit is chosen by the educators at the Wine Education Institute for students studying for their WSET Level 2 Award in Wines.

Henri Perrusset Macon Villages (A31)

Just a few miles from the town of Chardonnay, Henri works 10 acres of 20 year old vines struggling on rocky limestone soils. Time on the lees but next to no oak means creamy but pure fruit. Ripe apple mixes with lemon zest and stony minerality.

Barbadillo Fino Sherry (A48)

Barbadillo’s Finos are more Manzanilla-like in style, but are aged in Bodegas with less exposure to the cooling sea breezes. The flor in the barrels grows vigorously in these cellars so the wine is a little more nutty and toasty than the more appley and yeasty Manzanillas of Sanlucar

Barbadillo Pedro Ximenez (A49)

100% Pedro Ximénez. Pedro Ximénez aged oxidatively in solera for around five years. Founded in 1821, Barbadillo is without question Sanlucar de Barrameda’s most iconic producer of Sherry.

Quinta de la Rosa Tawny Port (A50)

Classic Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão, La Rosa’s Fine Tawny uses only category A graded grapes – the very best that the Douro has to offer.
