EWA Certificate in Scotch Whisky Kit

This kit represents many of the recommended styles featured in the Edinburgh Whisky Academy Certificate in Scotch Whisky Course. Each sample is sealed in a 30ml pharmaceutical vial.

Tamdhu 12 yr (S44)

From Speyside and matured in ex-sherry casks for 12 years, this drink holds aromas of cinnamon rolls, orange candy, fresh oak, raisins & traces of mint. EWA Certificate in Scotch Whisky Kit as an example of Sherry cask maturation

NOTES

The palate offers notes of banana, raspberry jam, malty biscuits & toasted oak, with cinnamon and dried fruit flavors that linger in the finish.

Silky texture that coats the mouth with banana, berry jam, malt biscuit and classic sherry oak depth.

Pleasantly long and balanced with ground spice, dried fruit and soft Scottish tablet – finally unveiling the merest wisp of peat smoke.

Arran 10 yr (S48)

Chosen as a lovely example of a Bourbon barrel aged whisky. First released in 2006, this 10-year whisky is the flagship single malt from Arran located on the namesake island off the southwest coast of the mainland.

NOTES

From Arran Island, with remarkable water from Loch na Davie.

The initial rush of rich vanilla sweetness gives way to a touch of cinnamon which adds a spicy edge to the soft and sweet texture. The classic Arran citrus notes have rounded with age and reveal new depths of character against a background of sweet oak.

Aberfeldy 15 yr Red Wine Cask (S79)

A Highland gem with a luscious red wine finish demonstrating the art of cask finishing.

NOTES

This limited expression of Aberfeldy 15 Years Old has been finished in Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Casks from Napa Valley. It offers fragrant notes of raspberry jam and parma violets. The finish delivers aromas of cinnamon and freshly ground coffee beans.

Ledaig 10yr Single Malt (S80)

A smoky single malt from the Isle of Mull demonstrating the use of peated malt.

NOTES

For 10 years, oak wood casks rest in ancient vaults. Within them, the aromatic Lochan waters commune with peated malted barley to create a deep golden treasure that is floral and smoky. Ledaig is one of their exquisite peated single malts. Ledaig Distillery, now known as Tobermory Distillery, is the only distillery on the Isle of Mull and is one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. Ledaig (pronounced "led-chig") is Gaelic for "safe haven" and refers to the natural harbor around which Tobermory Distillery is built. The Ledaig expressions are Tobermory's signature, hand-crafted, smoky single malts.

Dewars White Label (S81)

A smooth and approachable Scotch whisky demonstrating the blended category.

NOTES

The iconic DEWAR’S White Label is a timeless Scotch whisky that tastes as full and round today as it did over a century ago when it was created by our first Master Blender, A.J. Cameron. DEWAR’S White Label contains around 40 of Scotland’s finest single malts, with Aberfeldy at its heart. You’ll find it rich, golden and mellow throughout.

Loch Lomond Single Grain (S82)

A light and elegant whisky from the innovative Loch Lomond distillery, demonstrating the grain whisky category.

NOTES

A single grain from the very adaptable Loch Lomond distillery, known for producing a variety of different whiskies, from single malts to single grains to blends.
